Reminder: Franklin County Health Dept Holding Countywide Rabies Clinics Saturday

Pet owners in Franklin and surrounding counties who still need to get their dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies will have a chance to do that Saturday when the Franklin County Health Department sponsors its annual countywide low-cost rabies clinic.

Veterinarians from all three of the county’s animal hospitals will be out offering the rabies vaccine for dogs and cats for $5 per animal.

Rabies in wild and domestic animals is a problem all year round but is particularly prevalent in the warmer months when wild animals such as raccoons, foxes, and skunks are more active.

Cases of rabies in the 13-County District II Public Health region area have been fairly consistent over the years but another reminder for everyone is that rabies can be transmitted from animals to humans and if not caught in time, is always fatal.

If you have questions, you can contact the Franklin County Health Department at 706-384-5575.
