Rally Planned for Saturday Morning at Exit 177 for Truck Convoy

The American Freedom Truckers Convoy is expected to pass through Northeast Georgia Saturday morning on its way to Washington DC.

Taking their cue from the Canadian truckers convoy, the American trucker convoys will converge on Washington DC in a peaceful demonstration to demand an end to state and government mandates regarding COVID vaccinations and the wearing of masks.

According to their itinerary, the American Freedom convoy will head to metro Atlanta on I-20 Friday morning hitting the top-end perimeter in Cobb County Friday afternoon.

If all goes according to plan, the convoy will then come across the top-end perimeter in metro Atlanta and head up I-85 where they plan to stop in Braselton tonight at Exit 129 off I-85.

Michell LaSalle is one of the organizers involved in the rally for the truckers in Georgia.

She tells WLHR that as of Thursday afternoon, the truck convoy is still expected to stop for the night in Braselton and then begin their convoy Saturday morning.

Local supporters and organizers are asking the public to stand on the Exit 177 Whitworth Road overpass on I-85 Saturday beginning at 8a for a flag-waving rally to show support for the truckers convoy as it passes through Franklin and Hart counties.

Supporters are asked to bring flags to wave in support of the convoy and dress in red, white, and blue.

They also request that you DO NOT bring any political flags or signs as this is a non-partisan event.

One blogger on Facebook at USA Truck Convoy 2022 said Monday convoys further north are merging and the one they’re riding with on I-40 in Oklahoma was over 30 miles long as of Monday after merging with another convoy out of Texas.

Another convoy page on Facebook, the Freedom Convoy USA page said their convoy stopped in Indianapolis Wednesday and was 70 miles long.

The Freedom Convoy began in California but merged with another convoy in Las Vegas. They expect to be in DC Friday.
