Rabies Clinics Set for This Month in Lavonia and Hart County

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is holding its annual rabies clinic this month.

Shelter director Sheri Lockhart said the clinic is coming up in two weeks.

“We will be doing our rabies clinic on Saturday, April 13th from 10a to 3p,” Lockhart said. “Regular rabies vaccine is $5, a three-year vaccine is $10. However, your pet has to have already had a rabies vaccine the previous year to get the three-year.”

Also being offered are rabies vaccines for horses for $15.

Lockhart said so far this year, they’ve had four rabies quarantine cases at the shelter, but none of the animals turned out to be positive for the disease.   The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is located on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia.

And if you can’t make it to the rabies clinic at the animals shelter, the Hart County 4-H will be holding their annual rabies clinic this year over a two-day period.

The first is Saturday, April 27, 2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  and another will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Both clinics will be held at the Hartwell Elementary School Bus Ramp.  Dr. Matthew Keifer, D.V.M., of Hartwell Animal Hospital is donating his services for each clinic.

Cost per pet is $8.00.   All proceeds will benefit Hart County 4-H’ers.
