Qualifying for General Primary Election is Underway

Qualifying for the General Primary Election in May gets underway today. Qualifying will run through Friday. In Franklin County, County commission races in Post 3 and Post 4 are open. Those seats are currently held by Rev. Clint Harper and Jeff Jacques. Qualifying fees for those races is $216.00. Posts 3, 4 and 5 on the Franklin County Board of Education are also up for grabs this year. Those seats currently held by Bo Lowery, Kent Hall and Robin Cato respectively. Qualifying fees for the Board of Education races is $36.00. Non-partisan candidates in the Franklin County races will qualify at the Franklin County Board of Elections office in downtown Carnesville from 8a to 4p Monday – Friday. Republican candidates in Franklin County will qualify with John Hilton at Pinnacle Bank. Democratic candidates will qualify for Franklin County races with the local Democratic party. In Hart County, District two and four seats for the Hart County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education are up for grabs during the general election. The qualifying fee is $162. All candidates in Hart County will qualify at the County Probate Judge’s office on the square in downtown Hartwell Monday through Thursday from 8:30a – 4:30p and on Friday from 8:30a – noon. Meantime, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp as released a qualifying packet for candidates, which contains helpful information such as qualifying dates and fees and locations of qualifying in partisan races. The information packet may be obtained online at www.sos.ga.gov.
