Qualifier Update: Thursday – State and Federal Races

In the State races…

As of 4:30p Wednesday, four Republicans and one Democrat have qualified to run for the 24th District State Senate seat.

Jackson has announced his retirement and will not be running.

Republicans Gregory Gryzbowski of Evans, Ga and Lee Anderson of Grovetown, GA qualified Monday. Gryzbowski lists his occupation as government contractor. Anderson lists his occupation as farmer.

Additionally, Joe Edge of Evans, GA has qualified.  Edge lists his occupation as real estate broker. And Patricia “Pat” Goodwin of Evans has qualified. Goodwin lists her occupation as Director of Community Relations.

And Democrat Brenda Jordan of Hartwell has qualified for the 24th District seat.

And for the State House of Representatives, Republican incumbent Representative Alan Powell has qualified for the 32nd District seat.

In the race for District Attorney for the Northern Judicial Circuit, incumbent Parks White has qualified.

Also, Northern Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judges Chris Phelps, Thomas L. Hodges III and Jeffrey S. Malcom have qualified as non-partisan candidates.

In the federal races…

For the District 9 U.S. Representative seat, as of Wednesday, incumbent Republican Congressman Doug Collins has qualified.

He is being challenged so far by Republican Roger Fitzpatrick of Cleveland, GA.

Last week, former U.S. Representative for the 9th and then 10th Districts Dr. Paul Broun said Wednesday in a radio interview in Gainesville that he will run against Collins for the 9th, but he has not yet qualified.

No Democrats have qualified so far for the District 9 seat.

U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson has qualified to run for re-election. He is being challenged by Republican Derek “TMOT” Grayson of Redan, GA. Grayson lists his occupation as a senior network engineer.

He is also being challenged by Democrat James Knox, no address listed. Knox lists his occupation as Information Technology.
