Poll Workers Still Needed for May and November Elections in Franklin County

This is a busy election year and earlier this month, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger encouraged the public to be active participants in the most important part of a presidential election – by volunteering as a poll worker on Election Day.

Recognizing the critical role that poll workers play in ensuring a safe, secure, and accurate election, Secretary Raffensperger called on the citizens of the Peach State to actively engage in the democratic process and serve their local election offices.

Franklin County Elections Supervisor Tracie Creason said Monday she has enough poll workers for the March 12 Presidential Preference Primary but will be advertising for more poll workers for the May and November election cycles.

Franklin County Elections Board Chairperson Cindy Banks added that they are expecting record numbers at the polls this year, particularly in the May and November elections.

Creason said that’s why the Board is looking for extra poll workers.

Poll Workers are the front line of safe, secure, and accurate elections.

Creason said training and support are provided by county election officials to ensure that all volunteers are prepared for their roles throughout the election process.

Unlike Poll Watchers, Poll Workers are paid for their work.

Raffensperger said elections are complex operations, requiring thousands of manhours by hundreds of committed servants in each of Georgia’s 159 counties.

By volunteering during Early Voting or on Election Day, you can contribute to upholding the integrity of our elections and promote civic responsibility.

Again, if you are interested in being a poll worker for the 2024 elections you can contact Creason at 706-384-4390 in Franklin County or Robin Webb at the Hart County Board of Elections Office at 706-376-8911.
