Police Blotter: Stolen Bass Boat, Rifle Recovered

Oconee County, SC authorities have recovered a bass boat, valued at over $65,000 that was stolen from a Hart County man.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s incident report, the boat, a 2012 Ranger Z521 Bass boat with a Mercury 250 Optimax motor was reported missing from a dock on Lakeview Road last Thursday.

The owner said he had docked the boat on October 9th, a day before it went missing, and had drained the battery for the winter.

He also said the boat was computerized and needed a security code keyed in before it would start.

Oconee County authorities say the bass boat was found on October 10th on the shoreline across the lake on the Oconee County, SC side and returned to its owner.

Authorities have not arrested anyone in that case.

A gun stolen from a home in Putnam County, Georgia has been recovered in Hart County.

Hart County Sheriff’s Investigators say the owner of Gun Depot on Highway 29 in Hartwell called the Sheriff’s office after a woman came into the shop trying to pawn a Savage 30-06 rifle.

After running the serial number, the rifle came back stolen.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered the rifle, but it’s not known if the woman who tried to pawn the gun was arrested.
