Polar Bear Plunge Set for Saturday February 26

The annual Polar Bear Plunge is coming to the Hartwell Marina next month.

Sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence, the plunge raises money to help women trying to escape domestic violence.

Tiffany Holland Baker is the Development & Community Awareness Advocate and organizer of the event.

Baker said the 26th annual Polar Bear Plunge takes place on Saturday, Feb 26.

Businesses or organizations interested in becoming a sponsor can become a sponsor by raising $150 for silver, $200 for bronze, $350 for gold & $500 for platinum.

In return for your sponsorship, your business name will appear on the back of the event t-shirts, which will be given to each plunger as well as be available for spectators to purchase.

The larger the sponsorship, the larger the font with your business name will be.

Baker said they are also looking for vendors for the event such as food, crafts, and informational booths, kids games, etc.

The cost for vendor booths is $25 ($15 for non-profits).

Holland said they are also looking for jumpers to sign up as well. To become a jumper, just request a packet, fill out the form and get it back to them ASAP. You may mail your form in or send it back via email.

The minimum sponsorship required to jump is $75 and that includes a Polar Bear Plunge t-shirt.

Ask your co-workers, family & friends…anyone who would love to see you jump in freezing lake water! Jumpers will also be eligible for prizes in various categories such as best costume and biggest splash.

To obtain a packet, you can contact Holland at (706)377-4884 or email her at [email protected].
