Polar Bear Plunge Set for Saturday at Hartwell Marina

Saturday’s weather is forecast to be cloudy but it will still be a good day to go jump in the lake – for a good cause.

The annual Polar Bear Plunge is coming to the Hartwell Marina Saturday.

Last year’s Polar Bear Plunge in Hart County was a virtual event due to COVID concerns but this year it is in person and back at the marina.

Sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence, the plunge raises money to help women trying to escape domestic violence.

Tiffany Holland Baker is the Development & Community Awareness Advocate and organizer of the event.  Baker said the 26th annual Polar Bear Plunge begins at 11a.

“The festival part begins at 11a and the jump registration is from 11a to 12noon,” she said. “Everybody is going to jump at 12:30p. We give out various prizes to the jumpers and one will be for Best Costume.”

Baker said there will also be vendors at the event such as food, crafts, and informational booths, as well as games for the kids.

And if you want to jump it’s not too late to sign up. To become a jumper, you can call Holland 706-377-4884 to get more information.
