Plane Crashes in Oconee County, No Injuries

plane crashIn Oconee County, SC authorities say the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified regarding a small plane crash.

It happened Sunday afternoon near Lake Keowee and West Union.

Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King tells WLHR News witnesses called 911 Sunday about 5:45p to report seeing a small plan fall from the sky.

Responders found the pilot along McAlister Rd and were quickly able to locate the crash site.

The pilot reported an engine failure and told authorities he tried to land on a newly constructed residential street.  The pilot and his single passenger were not injured.

However, the small, experimental plane sustained heavy damage in the crash.
