Pines Play Card Available to Franklin County Students

The Athens Regional Library System and Franklin County School System have partnered to offer students a free way to sign out books from the Franklin County libraries.

It’s a digital library card called the Pines Play card. It’s a free digital library card for all students in grades K-12.

At their work session last week, the Franklin Board of Education heard more from the School System’s Technology Director Dr. Andrew Fowler.

According to Dr. Fowler, the Pines Play card offers a lot of benefits to students and will hopefully encourage students to read more; especially over the summer months.

Fowler said the Pines Play library card for students is free but parents can opt their student out of the program if they wish to do so.

Students can use the card to access digital resources available only to library card holders at athenslibrary.org.
