Petra: Sweet Jack Russell Terrier Needs Special Loving Home

Petra is a super sweet two-year-old female Jack Russel available for adoption.

Petra had a family, but they no longer could care for the young, active dog so she was banished to a solitary life in a pen outside with minimal human interaction.

When a good Samaritan rescued the timid dog the first thing they noticed was the extremely tight collar she was forced to wear for months.

Once the collar was removed and she could breathe and eat without effort and Petra’s personality changed immediately.

Poor Petra was suffering from separation anxiety but is making great strides in her foster home. She is learning to be comfortable in a crate and trust that her person will come for her. Petra smiles constantly and loves to roll in the grass, she gets along with other dogs and loves people but would do best in a home without cats.

Because she loves to bark and will climb a 4-foot fence, Petra will come with a 6-foot-high pen for limited outside time, an anti-bark box, and a session with an experienced dog trainer.

Petra needs a patient family to teach her how to be a good inside companion, though timid of men her foster mom is working to socialize her with them.

She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, up to date on her shots, and has been treated for parasites.

Please consider our very deserving Petra! Applications to adopt can be found at harthumane.org.
