Paws on the Patio to Benefit NE GA Animal Shelter is Saturday

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is continuing its fundraising efforts this weekend with a special event at the Chick-fil-A in Lavonia.

It’s their second Paws on the Patio and will be held Saturday, August 20 from 10a to 11:30 and they plan to have treats for each pet and a surprise for the pet owners while supplies last.

In March, Shelter Board members and staff broke ground on what will be a new adoption wing and offices.

Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais said Saturday’s event continues their efforts to raise money to complete the new addition.

The new building on the shelter grounds will house those dogs that are ready for adoption while the current building will continue to be used for the intake of animals and for quarantine purposes.

The total cost of the new wing is estimated to be about $450,000 according to Dr. Stone and is being paid for with donations, fundraisers, and grants.

So far, enough money has been raised to begin construction.

Jourdenais said the new wing would not have been possible without the continued support of the community.

Again, Paws on the Patio happenbs Saturday, August 20 at the Lavonia Chick-Fil-A from 10a to 11:30a.

They are also collecting much needed items and supplies for the shelter such as shredded paper, dog and cat food, laundry detergent, and cleaning items.
