Outgoing Franklin County Commissioners Recognized for Their Service

Franklin County Commissioners took time out Monday night to recognize two outgoing commissioners as well as former Board Chair Jason Macomson for their service.

During their meeting, Commissioners thanked Eddie Wester, Ryan Swails, and Macomson for their service to the citizens of Franklin County.

“Tonight is Commissioner Wester’s last meeting with us and Commission Swails is back with us who left the Board a little early because he had a job change,” Interim Commission Chair Kyle Foster said. “I just want to say thank you guys. It was a pleasure to work with y’all for the past two years.

“I didn’t get the opportunity to work with Mr. Swails but I appreciate your service to the County and I’ve enjoy working with you (Mr Wester) and I wish you well,” said Commissioner Elizabeth Busby.

“I’ve enjoyed working with both of them,” said Commissioner Robert Franklin.

“I appreciate your service and thank you for being there for me as we come through this rough year,” Foster added.

After receiving his award, Commissioner Wester thanked everyone for their support during his two terms in office.

“I would just like to say thank you. It’s been an honor to serve on this Board. It’s great serving with people of great character and integrity and I appreciate everything that y’all have done to help me,” Wester said. “Derrick, I told you when we first hired you that you were the person for this job and I still believe that to this day and I think our audit shows that. Miss Jane, it’s only been a short time but I greatly appreciate you. Thank you to the citizens for trusting me for eight years to sit up here for eight years and represent you.”

Wester said he’s looking forward to spending more time with his family.

Wester served two terms as a Franklin County Commissioner and chose not to run for re-election.
