“Our Artful Youth” Exhibit Opens at Hartwell Art Center Today

The Hartwell Art Center today announced the opening of its next art exhibit, “Our Artful Youth,” scheduled to run from February 16 through March 18.

The exhibit, sponsored by Hart EMC, showcases works of art by students of all ages within the community. The opening reception for the exhibit will be held Thursday, February 16 from 6 PM until 7:30 PM.

“We are all fortunate to have a thriving arts community in Hartwell and the region, and this next generation of young artists is overflowing with students who are passionate and energized,” said Paul Sewell, president of Hartwell Art Center. “Hartwell Art Center and our patrons are committed to providing opportunities to nurture these artists and encourage them to learn, grow and develop their talents. We’re grateful to our exhibit sponsor, Hart EMC, for their support of our local students.”

Works of art in this year’s student exhibit span a diverse spectrum of media and subject matter.

“Our local art teachers have done a great job selecting artists for this year’s exhibit,” said Kim Bass, chairperson of art installations at Hartwell Art Center. “Our installation team has the chance to see the artwork first when we’re hanging them in the gallery, and we are all captivated by the detail and depth in these pieces.”

The student art exhibit is an annual show that is a collaboration between Hartwell Art Center, the Hart County School System, and local art teachers.

“The arts are a vital part of our curriculum in the Hart County Charter System,” said Jennifer Carter, Superintendent of the Hart County Charter System. “We’re thankful for our art teachers and their collaboration with the Hartwell Art Center to produce this exhibit that recognizes our students’ talent and gives them a platform to share their talents outside of the classroom.”

“Our Artful Youth” exhibition is located in the gallery of the Hartwell Art Center at 338 E. Howell Street in downtown Hartwell.

The gallery hours are from 11 AM to 5 PM, Thursday through Saturday.
