“Our Artful Youth” Exhibit Ends This Weekend

The Hartwell Art Center art exhibit, “Our Artful Youth ends this Saturday.

Sponsored by Hart EMC, the exhibit showcases works of art by students of all ages within the Hart County community.

Paul Sewell is the president of the Hartwell Art Center.

He tells WLHR News this next generation of young artists is overflowing with students who are passionate and energized.

Sewell said the Hartwell Art Center and its patrons are committed to providing opportunities to nurture young artists and encourage them to learn, grow and develop their talents.

Works of art in this year’s student exhibit span a diverse spectrum of media and subject matter.

“Our local art teachers have done a great job selecting artists for this year’s exhibit,” said Kim Bass, chairperson of art installations at Hartwell Art Center. “Our installation team has the chance to see the artwork first when we’re hanging them in the gallery, and we are all captivated by the detail and depth in these pieces.”

The student art exhibit is an annual show that is a collaboration between the Hartwell Art Center, the Hart County School System, and local art teachers.

Hart County Charter System superintendent Jennifer Carter said the arts are a vital part of the curriculum in the school system.

“The arts are a vital part of our curriculum in the Hart County Charter System,” said Jennifer Carter, Superintendent of the Hart County Charter System. “We’re thankful for our art teachers and their collaboration with the Hartwell Art Center to produce this exhibit that recognizes our students’ talent and gives them a platform to share their talents outside of the classroom.”

The Hartwell Art Center is located at 338 E. Howell Street in downtown Hartwell.

Gallery hours are from 11 AM to 5 PM, Thursday through Saturday.
