Organizers Looking Forward to Saturday’s Renaissance Festival

The final map for Saturday’s Renaissance Festival in Lavonia is done and according to Downtown Development Authority Director Vivian Young, everything is ready for the big day.

The Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, May 1st in Lavonia City Park, and this year’s theme is Camelot.

Lavonia Welcome Center spokeswoman Barbara Busby said some of the same entertainers that participated in 2019 will be back this year.

“In 2019 we had the high school that performed a Shakespeare spoof. This year, they’re busy so Savannah River Productions will provide entertainment. Our MC Odie is back this year and he’s hilarious. We’ll have Twister the Clown and we’ll have the petting zoo back, which we hope will be bigger this year,” she said.

A couple of new entertainers include a fire eater and a birds of prey show called the Winged Ambassadors.

Volunteers from around the community have been working for almost a year to bring the second annual Ren Fest together this weekend.

Young said about 35 volunteers will be on hand to help visitors and parking will be available at the Moose Lodge. The lodge will also be serving food and alcoholic beverages.

Ren Fest 2021 is taking place at the Lavonia Community Park behind City Hall.
