Old Hardware Store Restaurant to Hold Grand Opening Friday

After six months of hard restoration work, the Old Hardware Store is holding its Grand Opening on Friday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the popular Royston eatery takes place Friday at 10a.

Owner Kelley Tamplin tells WLHR News they actually had a soft opening Wednesday for lunch and will be open again today for lunch.

The Old Hardware Store will then be open Monday – Friday for lunch and Monday evenings for dinner.

The building housing the restaurant suffered severe smoke damage last summer when an adjoining building caught fire.

Last fall, Tamplin told WLHR News she expected to be open much sooner but there was more smoke damage throughout the historic building than expected. That, she said, resulted in having to gut the entire building.  Additionally, the two apartments above the restaurant also had to be gutted and rebuilt.

In the process, Tamplin said she was careful to do a restoration, instead of a renovation, to bring the building and restaurant back to the way people remembered it.

Beginning Monday, Tamplin said they will once again be serving dinner but she said they will also be serving lunch on Mondays as well.

Again, the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Old Hardware Store in Royston is 10a Friday.
