Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter Re-opens to Public

Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia is back open.

The shelter had to close for two weeks after a litter of puppies that were turned in were diagnosed with parvo.

Shelter Director Tammie Jourdenais said the shelter opened Wednesday and they are accepting dogs and cats once again.

However, she asks for the public’s patience.

“We opened back up on Wednesday. So, we ask that you call ahead of time and try to be patient with us. We’re going to try and save as many lives as possible and we’re getting really overwhelmed at this time. Just give a call if you have an animal to turn in or have been holding an animal and we will make an appointment for you.”

The shelter on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia is open Tuesdays-Saturdays from 11a to 4p for adoptions and surrenders.

For more information, you can call the shelter at 706-356-5363.
