Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter Loses Director Lockhart

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia loses its director.

Sources tell WLHR News Sherri Lockhart resigned suddenly Friday night.

Lockhart had served as the shelter director for some ten years and during that time instituted a number of programs and improvements that dramatically reduced the shelter’s euthanasia rate.

Shelter board attorney, Judy Jarecki-Black would not comment on Lockhart’s leaving.

Jarecki-Black said they do not comment on personnel matters.

Lockhart also could not be reached for comment.

Meantime, Jarecki-Black said assistant shelter director Tammi Jourdenais has been made the interim shelter director.

Jarecki-Black would not say definitively if the board plans to search for a new director.
