Northeast GA Animal Shelter to Hold Steak and Eggs Breakfast Fundraiser This Month

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter has broken ground on its new dog adoption wing but the fundraising continues.

According to Shelter Board member Pam Stone, they need to raise about $450,000 to complete the new addition.

This month, they will be holding another event to raise money and it will be breakfast at the Longhorn Steakhouse in Lavonia.  The restaurant doesn’t usually offer breakfast but they are making an exception on the 25th, according to Stone.

“We’ll be serving steak, eggs, grits, and biscuits, which also includes beverages – tea, coffee, orange juice, and soft drinks,” Stone explained. “And Wendy, the manager has said she will also give a coupon for a free appetizer, an $11 value, (the next time they visit) to our guests that Saturday as well. So, that’s a wonderful gift to offset the price of the breakfast, which is already a terrific deal.”

Stone said there will be two seatings that Saturday morning, at 8a and 9a and each seating can accommodate up to 150 people.

Additionally, there will also be a raffle for a gift basket filled with pet products and other goodies for those who attend to enter.

Tickets are $15 per person and go on sale this week at Longhorn Steakhouse in Lavonia, the animal shelter on Bear Creek Road, Pinnacle Bank branches in Lavonia, Franklin Springs, and Hartwell, as well as from shelter Board members.

Stone said once complete, the new addition will separate adoptable dogs from those that had just been turned in.

“We already have a separate cat facility. Our goal is to separate new intake animals from those that are adoptable,” she said. “Adoptable dogs will be moved over to the new adoption facility and be available for people to come and visit in a more conducive environment.”

Stone said they hope to have the new wing finished and open by the end of the year.

Again, tickets to the steak and eggs breakfast fundraiser at Longhorn Steakhouse are $15 each and will be available later this week at Longhorn in Lavonia, Pinnacle Bank, the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter, and from any shelter board member.
