Northeast GA Animal Shelter Schedules Fall Rabies Clinic

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is gearing up for its fall rabies clinic coming up Saturday, October 22 from 10a to 2p at the shelter on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia.

Shelter Manager Tammie Jourdenais tells WLHR News the clinic will be held from 10a to 2p for anyone who wants to bring their dog or cat to get a rabies vaccine.

Jourdenais said, however, this year due to inflation, the cost of a rabies vaccine has increased again.

A one-year rabies vaccine is $10, and a three-year rabies shot is $20 but the cat or dog must have already been vaccinated for rabies the year before in order to get a three-year shot.

They will also be offering dog and cat distemper shots which will also be $10 each, as well as kennel cough for $10, and microchipping for $25.

The shelter does two rabies clinics every year, one in the spring and one in the fall

Shots are given on a first-come, first-serve basis, and all dogs must be on a leash and cats in carriers.

If you prefer, the vet can come out to your car to vaccinate your animals instead of bringing them inside.

And as in past rabies clinics, the only form of payment is cash or check, no debit or credit cards will be accepted.

Again, the Northeast Georgia fall rabies clinic takes place at the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter Saturday, October 22 from 10a to 2p.

Adoptions will also be taking place Saturday from 11a to 4p.
