North Carolina Burglary Suspect Captured in Lavonia

A suspected car thief from North Carolina is behind bars in Franklin County after he was captured by Lavonia Police.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said it happened last Thursday when one of his officers spotted what appeared to be a suspicious vehicle.

On July 2nd, one of my newer officers was on routine patrol when he noticed a vehicle parked in an unusual location,” Carlisle said. “The officer noticed a male sleeping in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen out of Charlotte, North Carolina.”

Carlisle said the suspect was also a gang member from the Charlotte, NC area and was listed in the national crime database as being extremely dangerous.

“Back up arrived. The officers identified the individual as Bobby Forest. He was wanted in the Mecklenburg, NC  jurisdiction for a string of burglaries,” Carlisle explained.

According to Carlisle all of the items allegedly taken in those burglaries were also found inside the stolen vehicle.

In Georgia, Forest is charged with bringing stolen property into the state, marijuana possession and giving false information.

He is being held without bond in the Franklin County Detention Center.
