“No Use” Advisory Continues for Some Banks County Water Customers

In Banks County, people living along Highway 105 are still being told not to use their tap water for drinking, bathing or cooking until further notice.

Tuesday afternoon the Banks County Commission office released as statement saying the water main has been repaired, and testing is being done on the water to make sure it is safe.

On Sunday, natural gas entered the Banks County water system along Highway 105 and Spring Road after a water main and a natural gas line ruptured.

Crews worked all day Monday and Tuesday to fix both lines, and by Tuesday afternoon, both lines had been repaired.

However, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division requires testing be done on the water before water customers in that area will be able to use it again.

According to the Banks County water and sewer department, the water line has been disinfected and flushed.

Samples were taken Tuesday morning and sent to the lab for analysis.

Results should be available sometime today.

If the test results are negative then water service will be restored.

Until then, the “No Use” advisory remains in effect for water customers along Georgia Highway 105.
