No Bond for South Carolina Couple in I-8 Meth Arrest

Bond was denied Wednesday for a South Carolina couple accused with trafficking methamphetamine.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas tells WLHR News Franklin County Magistrate Judge Cody Grizzle denied bond for  29-yr old Nytia Latisia Simmons of Greenville, and 38-yr old Jimmy Morris Hallums of Easley, SC on the meth charges.

According to Thomas, the pair were arrested Tuesday afternoon on I-85 northbound after deputies stopped their vehicle for a routine traffic violation.

“The vehicle was stopped and a K-9 unit was on the stop,” Thomas said. “The K-9 put an alert on the vehicle and deputies asked for consent to search the vehicle. The driver consented. A search of the vehicle found a total of 10 kilos of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, with a street value of over $120,000. That’s 10 kilos of methamphetamine that will be off the streets of Georgia and South Carolina.”

Both Simmons and Hallums remain in the Franklin County Detention Center.
