New Georgia Gun Law Doesn’t Apply on Corps Properties

Georgia’s House Bill 60, or the Safe Carry Protection Act of 2014, signed into law by Governor Nathan Deal, April 23 and effective July 1, does not affect lakes and lands in Georgia managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

“All Corps property is under federal jurisdiction,” said Corps Spokesman Billy Birdwell. “Under federal law, Title 36 part 327, possession of loaded firearms, ammunition or loaded projectile firing devices are banned from all Corps property.”

Birdwell said the only time firearms are allowed on Corps properties are when they are being used in compliance with hunting regulations during regular hunting seasons.
