New Equipment Coming to Fr. Co. Board of Elections Office

New equipment is being added to the Franklin County Elections office.

At the Franklin County Board of Elections meeting Wednesday, Elections Supervisor Tracie Creason said a new printer is being added to the poll pads to make it easier for voters to sign in when they come to cast a ballot.

“There’s a new machine that goes with a poll pad. It’s a printer. When the voter comes in to sign up to vote, they will just type in their name and their information and it will print out on what looks like a receipt. We won’t have the extra paper. We won’t have the wait time. The wait time is like 39 seconds, and the printers are connected with the other systems that we’ve got,” Creason said.

Creason said the poll pad printers will be purchased from KNOW Ink in St. Louis and are inkless.

At a cost of $645 each, they come with a three-year warranty. Plans are to purchase three machines initially to use for early voting.

Additionally, Creason said the Board of Election office will also be switching to a new system called Jarvis, which she said will integrate with other machines in the Elections office.

“The JARVIS will go into effect on February 6 and all of that is connected. It all talks to each other. So, anytime someone comes in to vote it will automatically go into the system whereas before we would wait for 20 or 30 to pile up, and then Nora would put them in the system to where everything would match at the end of the day. All the numbers would match. But this system is connected together. So it will tell the other machines what’s going on,” she said.

After hearing from Creason the Board of Elections voted to approve the purchase of the three new poll printers.
