New 2022-2023 DNR Hunting Guide and Regulations is Now Available

The new 2022-2023 Georgia Department of Natural Resources Hunting Seasons and Regulations guide is out and there are a few changes.

One of the changes includes an update on Chronic Wasting Disease.

There are also changes to the requirements for bringing harvested deer/elk/caribou/moose from out-of-state into Georgia, including only bringing back boned-out meat or products; hides with no attached head; antlers, skulls, skull plates, teeth, or jawbones with no soft tissue attached; finished taxidermy products.

With regard to hunting Raccoon and Opossum – there is no closed season when hunting on private land and no bag limit for hunting or trapping raccoons and opossum. Hunting season on National Forest lands and on most WMAs is Aug. 15 through the last day of February. No bag limit for raccoons.

Additionally, the new guide contains changes in bag limits for Sea Ducks scoters, eiders, and long-tailed ducks.

The guide also provides important information on season dates, bag limits, hunting licenses, wildlife management areas (WMAs), quota hunts, youth opportunities and more.
