NE GA Animal Shelter to Hold Spring Rabies Clinic April 15

Spring is here and now is the time to make sure your pet is vaccinated against rabies.

And the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia will be holding its annual low-cost rabies clinic on Saturday, April 15 at the shelter on Bear Creek Road from 10a to 2p.

Shelter Director Tammie Jourdenais is encouraging anyone who needs to have their pet vaccinated to take advantage of the low-cost clinic.

Rabies vaccines will be $10 for a one-year and $20 for a three-year.

They will also be offering dog and cat distemper shots for $10, as well as kennel cough for $10.

Microchipping will be available for $25.

Cash or check only – no credit or debit cards will be accepted.

The most common carriers of the rabies virus in Northeast Georgia are raccoons, foxes, and skunks.

If your dog or cat is an outside pet or is even outdoors in a dog pen or on a tie-out, they need to be protected with a current rabies vaccine.

It is also the law in Georgia and experts say inside dogs and cats should also be vaccinated.

Additionally, there is no cure for rabies either in pets or in people, but you can protect them and your family by having your pet vaccinated.

Again, the annual low-cost rabies clinic at the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia is Saturday, April 15 from 10a to 2p.

No appointment is necessary.
