A simple stop sign violation on East Main St. turned into a pursuit that didn’t go as planned for a Lavonia motorcyclist.

That’s according to Lavonia Police Chief Shane Edmisten.

Edmisten said last week, the motorcyclist was arrested after a high-speed chase by Lavonia Police officers, deputies with the Franklin and Hart County Sheriff’s offices, and the Georgia State Patrol.

At one point, the motorcyclist, identified as Christavier Brown of Lavonia, fell off his bike and tried to run but was quickly captured.

Chief Edmisten said after his arrest, officers found a loaded and stolen Glock handgun in Brown’s waistband, along with a quantity of a Schedule 2 narcotic.

Brown is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of schedule 2 narcotics (dextroamphetamine), reckless driving, no insurance, no registration, operating with the wrong class of license, equipment violation, obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
