Light snow today is expected to be followed by 2-4 inches overnight Wednesday.

Snow and wintery weather hanging on in Northeast Georgia.

Today’s Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon, but another Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of Northeast Georgia beginning at 6p Wednesday evening through 6a Thursday morning.

According to meteorologist Danny Gant with the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, Franklin and Hart counties are expected to receive a significant amount of snowfall beginning tomorrow night.

“Right now we’re looking at warning criteria snowfall for all of the area we cover,” Gant said early Wednesday. “We’re not willing to commit to any accumulation numbers right now. But warning criteria for you all is three inches.”

But Gant said it could be more.

According to Gant, the snow fall tomorrow is expected to begin around 7p in the evening and continue to fall steadily overnight.

“I don’t think there is any doubt that we’re looking at three inches,” he said. “It’s going to be a quick shot. All of the precipitation will exit the area for your area by daybreak Thursday morning.”

Of course 92.1 will keep you updated on what exactly we can expect as we get closer to Wednesday evening.   Plus, we will have all the latest on school and business closings for Franklin and Hart Counties.
