More Public Forums Planned for Fr. Co. Comprehensive Plan

As Franklin County and its five municipalities continue their work on the next Comprehensive Plan, more opportunities are scheduled for public input.

The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) is assisting Franklin County and the municipalities of Carnesville, Canon, Franklin Springs, Lavonia, and Royston with the update of their joint Comprehensive Plan, the state-required document that helps shape and coordinate local work programs for the communities.

This process will include multiple opportunities for public input, with the next round of meetings happening in Monday, April 29 at the Royston Train Depot from 6p to 7:30p and again Tuesday, May 7 at the Franklin County Justice Center from 6p to 7:30p

GMRC Planning Director Adam Hazell tells WLHR News if you cannot make it to one of the upcoming meetings more events will be listed for the coming months.

In addition, there is also a brief online survey asking people to give their thoughts on select issues and priorities for each community.

The survey can be found online at www.surveymonkey/r/FranklinCountyGA.

The survey will be accessible through May 31 and will be open to anyone with a vested interest in the area.
