Authorities in Franklin County, Virginia believe three people arrested in Toccoa Sunday for the burglary and murder of an elderly man there, may also be responsible for other crimes in that state.

On Sunday, Stephens County Sheriff’s investigators along with investigators from the Franklin County, Virginia Sheriff’s office arrested 31-year-old Daniel Percy Arnot of Toccoa, and two accomplices identified as 25-year-old Michael Anthony Edwards and 25-year-old Carrie Ramey, both of Toccoa.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley the three allegedly broke into the home of Arnot’s ex-father-in-law, 66-year old Brian Edward Foy of Moneta, Virginia sometime overnight last Friday.

Foy was found dead Saturday morning by his son.

After the crime, the three allegedly fled back to Toccoa where Sheriff Shirley said Arnot and Ramey were found and arrested early Sunday at the Host Inn on Big A Road.

Edwards was found a short time later at a home on Sautee St. in Toccoa.

According to authorities, evidence collected at both the Host Inn and in the house on Sautee St. connects the three to the crime in Virginia.

Arnot faces charges of first-degree murder, breaking and entering, and grand larceny charges in Virginia.

His alleged accomplices, Ramey and Edwards, both of Toccoa, are each charged in Virginia with breaking and entering and grand larceny.

Shirley said investigators are searching for more evidence they believe is in the area and more charges are expected.

Meantime, Arnot, Ramey and Edwards are awaiting extradition back to Virginia.
