Local Students Nominated for GOAL Award

Five local students were recently nominated for the North Georgia Technical College Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership.

They include Valentino DiGiorgio of Hartwell, Lana Rice of Toccoa, Joseph Smith of Eastanollee, Samantha Turner of Toccoa, and Carmen Vidal of Toccoa.

GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia, honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students.

Ultimately four finalists were named to move on to be interviewed next month by a panel of business, civic, and industry leaders, who will select the college’s 2023 GOAL winner. The NGTC GOAL winner will then represent NGTC at the regional and state competitions.

They are Teresa Burton, Culinary Arts student of Cleveland, Kristen Henderson, Medical Assisting student of Mineral Bluff, Sydney Roberts of Statesboro, and Jana Walker, Early Childhood Care and Education student of Cleveland.
