Little Caesar’s in Carnesville Helping Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter continues to work hard to raise the money it needs to begin work on the new adoption wing and a number of local businesses are lending their support.

Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais recently announced that Little Caesar’s in Carnesville is donating a portion of its sales to the shelter.

“We’re trying to every penny that we can because this grant is willing to match whatever is donated,” she explained. “Little Caesar’s in Carnesville is donating a percentage of their sales to us every Monday night from 4p to 8p through December. So, you can eat pizza and know that you’re helping out the unwanted animals in Franklin County.”

The shelter’s Raise the Roof campaign got an extra boost when a couple offered to match donations up to $75,000 through December 27.

Shelter Board Member Pam Stone tells WLHR News they estimate the cost of the new wing to be around $450,000.

Due to new rules handed down from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, animal shelters must now separate newly brought-in dogs and cats from those that are ready to be adopted out.

While they can separate cats in the cat building, the Lavonia shelter does not have enough space in the current building to separate dogs.

The new wing will house more office space and more kennel space for the dogs that are available for adoption.

Groundbreaking took place last spring but so far construction has not yet begun.
