Lavonia Spring Festival Set for Saturday

If the rain doesn’t wash them out,  the annual Lavonia Spring Festival is coming up Saturday on Main St. in downtown Lavonia.

Sponsored by the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce, this year 74 vendors will lining both sides of Main St offering everything from crafters to food vendors and a children’s area.

Chamber coordinator Al Goldsmith said this year, a wide variety of food vendors will be on hand offering something for everyone.

“This year we’ll have everything from Polish sausage to Italian Ice to homemade pies from the Baptist church, so we’ll have a good amount of food,” he said.

Some of the new craft vendors this year include a guitar maker, yard art crafters and home made birdbaths.

The Farmer’s Market will also be selling their homegrown goods during the festival.

Entertainment will include local baton twirlers and dancers from All the Right Moves Dance Studio in Roysotn.

With a 50-50 chance for rain Saturday,, Goldsmith said they just have to hope the bad weather holds off because there is no rain date.

“We don’t have a rain date because we bump into everybody else’s festival,” Goldsmith said. “As soon as we get done with ours, Toccoa, Hartwell, and Elberton will be having their festivals. So, we don’t have a rain date for that reason.”

Set up time for vendors is 7a to 9a Goldsmith said. The festival opens at 9a and runs through 4p Saturday.
