Lavonia P&Z Board to Hear Plans for Senior Retirement Community Tonight

The Lavonia City Planning and Zoning Board will hear tonight from representatives of Reliant Homes on their plan to develop 42 acres off Andrews Drive and Jones St.

The Company is asking the zoning for that land be changed from R1-A to Medical Campus District.

According to City Manager Charles Cawthon, Reliant would like to see a senior retirement community go in there.

“They felt like looking at our overall housing that maybe some senior housing would be a good fit, but they don’t want to get into that business,” he explained. “They’ve got a site plan, an overall conceptual plan and they just want to be able to market that to someone who might do that.”

Tonight’s Planning and Zoning meeting takes place at 5p at City Hall and will be followed by the Lavonia City Council’s regular meeting at 5:30p.
