Lavonia PD at Lavonia Elementary School Today for Active Shooter Training

Just a reminder, you might see some extra Lavonia Police cruisers around Lavonia Elementary School today.

That’s because Lavonia Police will be undergoing two active shooter training sessions at Lavonia Elementary school this week.

Lavonia Police active shooter training will take place Tuesday and Thursday at Lavonia Elementary School.

Police Chief Bruce Carlisle says the training is part of the ongoing training officers go through on a regular basis.

Another segment of training this week will be how to breach certain types of doors in the event of an active shooter emergency.

Carlisle said a larger scale, more in-depth active shooter training is being planned for next year.

Lavonia Police have taken part in large-scale active shooter training in the past and have also trained with other local law enforcement agencies.

Carlisle said any business, organization, or group that would be interested in having an active shooter session can call his office at 706-356-4848.
