Lavonia Completes Summer Road Projects

The City of Lavonia has completed a number of summertime road projects.

At their recent meeting this month, City Manager Gary Fesperman went over a list of projects that have either been done or are near completion.

One of them was the repaving of a portion of Main St.

According to Fesperman that project was paid for with Local Maintenance Improvement Grant money from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Another project that has been laid to rest is the repaving and patching of some of the roads in the City cemetery.

Fesperman said while road crews were in town, the also went ahead and finished that work as well.

According to Fesperman, part of the monies used to repave the two roads in the Burgess City Cemetery came out of the City’s Cemetery Fund.

$8,900 was taken out of the Cemetery Fund to help pay for the project. The balance was taken out of the General Fund, according to the City Manager.
