Lavonia City Council to Consider More Renovations to Cannery

More discussion expected tonight by the Lavonia City Council and Mayor Ralph Owens on the next phase of Cannery renovation.

Tonight, the council is expected to hear from City Manager Gary Fesperman on repairs to the Cannery Parking lot as well as bids for a new HVAC system.

Over the summer and fall, city crews did some immediate repair work to the Cannery roof, which had deteriorated in the back of the building.

They also installed new windows and did some outside landscaping.  But so far, there have not been a lot of funds to work with.
The City has been working for over a year to secure funding to renovate the interior of the cannery, but so far has not been able to find any sort of grant money.  An initial full renovation had been planned on the building as soon as possible, but now they are working in phases as funds allow.

In other business, the Council and Mayor will hear from Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle who is expected to deliver his annual report.

Tonight’s Lavonia City Council meeting takes place at 5:30p at Lavonia City Hall.
