Lavonia Carnegie Library to Begin Community Storytime

The Lavonia Carnegie Library is starting a new reading program for kids next month.

It’s called ‘Community Storytime’ and will feature a different person from the community reading a book to children.

Branch Manager for the Franklin County Libraries, Maggie West said the first ‘Chapter’ will be: “Mayor and Friends Storytime!” and will feature Lavonia Mayor Courtney Umbehant reading the book, “Vote for Me” by Martin Baltscheit.

West said after the reading, children will be able to ask the Mayor questions about his job and the City of Lavonia.

A different guest reader will read a book every month. The first community storytime will be Wednesday, October 12 at 11a at the Lavonia-Carnegie Library and it is free.

West also said there’s a change to the Lavonia Preschool Storytimes.

She said from now on, all of the preschool storytimes will be held at 11 am. Storytimes include the story as well as crafts for the kids afterward.

If you’d like more information on the Community Storytime or the change in the preschool storytime hours, you can call the Lavonia-Carnegie Library at 706-356-4307.
