Last Week to Vote Early for State Primary Run-off

People votingThis is the last week for advance for the July State Primary Run-off elections.

The run-off is July 22nd and the elections will finalize each political party’s slate of candidates for the November General Election.

Advance voting ends on Friday and according to the Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, early voting has been very slow so far.   There are no local run-off races in either Hart or Franklin counties.

Voters are deciding between Republicans Rep. Jack Kingston and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss.

They are also deciding on both a Republican and Democratic candidate for the State School Superintendent race.

Hart County Registrar John Stercho said only those who have registered to vote before April 21st of this year will be able to vote in the July Primary.

To find out if you are eligible to vote, Stercho says you can simply go to the Secretary of State Web site where you can view sample ballots and a list of candidates.

“There are sample ballots voters can look at on the Secretary of State’s Web site,” he said. “Just click on the My Voter page and insert your information. Then you can click on the buttons for either the Democratic or Republican ballots.”

The Hart County Registrar’s office is located on Cade St. in Hartwell across from the old Hart County Hospital building.

Early voting takes place from 8a to 5p.

In Franklin County, early voting takes place at the Board of Elections and Registrations office in Carnesville Monday – Friday from 8a to 4:30p.

Absentee ballot applications are also being mailed out during early voting.  You may request an absentee ballot by calling your local Registrar’s or Board of Elections office.
