Last Day Today for 8th Graders to Enter AAA Discovery Crew Contest

8th-grade students have until midnight tonight to submit their entries to AAA for a chance at winning a European river cruise.

There is no cost to enter the contest and the prize includes the cruise, airfare, travel insurance, and money for passports – for the student and a parent or guardian.

The “Discovery Crew” contest began August 23rd and is provided by AAA – The Auto Club Group, AmaWaterways, and Allianz Global Assistance and ends September 23.

“AAA is excited to offer this contest for the second time in collaboration with our long-time partners AmaWaterways and Allianz,” said Deborah Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA. “The Discovery Crew contest and trip are inspired by our belief in the transformative power of travel and desire to expand children’s view of the world.”

Haas said for many children, this might well be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This is the second Discovery Crew contest, hosted by AAA – The Auto Club Group and its partners.

Up to 60 student winners will be chosen from the contest, which is open to students in The Auto Club Group’s select 14 states including Georgia.

“For many young students, this may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Haas continued. “So, we urge them to enter the contest. The winners will join us on a week-long cruise through the Netherlands and Belgium. While there, students will experience the diverse people and cultures of the area and make new friends. In the end, our hope is to instill a love of travel in generations to come.”

Haas said the contest rules are simple.

“The students will go to AAA.com/DiscoveryCrew and they will answer three questions about travel. They’ll have up to 100 words to help us understand why they want to travel, how rivers affect the communities through which they run, and how they would deal with traveling with people and meeting people who are different from themselves and family and friends,” she explained. “Plus, they will upload a selfie that shows their passion for travel and interest in the Netherlands and Belgium. We wanted to give children the opportunity to express themselves visually, as well as in writing because some children are stronger in one area than another. And it brings another dimension to the competition.”

To be eligible, students must: be at least 13 years old at the start of the contest and be entering the 8th grade and in good standing.

Students and the adult that accompanies them must also be willing to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 at the time of the cruise.

Students or their parents are not required to be AAA members nor do they have to purchase anything to enter.

You can visit AAA.com/DiscoveryCrew to confirm eligibility and submit your entry.

Winners will be notified beginning in October.
