Last Day to Register to Vote for November General Election

vote7If you plan to vote in November and you have not registered, have moved since you voted last or are just not sure if you are registered, you have until close of business today to get registered.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp says there are a number of ways to register to vote. You can do so at your local Elections or Registrar office, on campus at  your college, but the easiest way is to do it online at the Secretary of State Web site, www.ga.sos.gov.

Meantime, advance voting for the November General Election is coming up on October 13 – October 31 and now is the time to get acquainted with the candidates and review sample ballots.

In Hart County, sample ballots are available at the Board of Elections office. In Franklin County, you can pick one up at the Franklin County Elections and Registrations office in Carnesville.  Sample ballots are also available online at the Secretary of State’s Web site at www.sos.ga.gov. Hart County Registrar John Stercho says, however, there is still some confusion among voters there about where the Board of Elections and Registrations office is now located.

“Our board of registration office located on Cade St. right across from the old Hart County Hospital,” Stercho said. “We are open Monday through Friday from 8a to 5p.  And we stay open during lunch time.”

The Registrar’s office moved to that location on Cade St. over a year ago. During early/advance voting, Hart County voters will go to that office on Cade St. to cast their ballots.

In Franklin County, voters will go to Carnesville to the Board of Elections and Registrations office to advance vote.

Hours are Monday – Friday, October 13th through October 31st from 8a – 4:30p.

Because there are federal races to decide this November, there will be one Saturday early voting day on October 25th from 8a to 4p.
