Lake Hartwell Campgrounds, Day Use Areas Open May 1

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hart well Lake Office will open area campgrounds and day-use areas for the 2013 recreation season on May 1.

The campgrounds include:

Oconee Point and Coneross Campgrounds in Oconee County, S.C. , Paynes Creek and Georgia River Campgrounds in Hart County, Ga., and the Crescent Group Campground in Anderson County, S.C.

The South Carolina campgrounds are open through September 30th while the Hart County campgrounds are open through September 9th.

In addition to the above campgrounds, the following day-use areas will also be open from May 1 through Sept. 9 for the 2013 season.

Singing Pines and River Forks Day-Use Areas in Anderson County, S.C.,  Twin Lakes and Twelve Mile Day-Use Areas in Pickens County, S.C., and the Elrod Ferry Day-Use Area in Hart County.

These areas provide picnic shelters, picnic sites, restroom facilities, playgrounds, swim beaches and boat ramps with a courtesy dock and security lighting.
