Kenny Floyd Named Franklin County Charter System’s Teacher of the Year

The Franklin County Charter System has named Franklin County High School teacher Kenny Floyd the Teacher of the Year for 2021-2022.

School Superintendent Chris Forrer announced the winner at their convocation Monday.

In announcing Floyd as the high school’s Teacher of the Year, Principal Roger Wilkinson said Floyd is an inspiration to his students.

“He teaches principles of engineering courses in Career Tech and they do a lot of cool stuff like building an electric battery-operated race car that they enter in competitions. And they also do stuff with drones. Additionally, he’s taken the initiative and set up and runs the school store. All the students love him and we can always count on him to do anything we need him to do. He’s done a fabulous job,”  Wilkinson said.

Floyd has been teaching at Franklin County High School for the past 15 years.

Teachers of the Year were also named for each school.

Christine McCormack was named Teacher of the Year at Carnesville Elementary School.

Stephanie McConnell is the Teacher of the Year at Royston Elementary School where she is a 5th-grade teacher and instructional coach.
