Kemp Makes Campaign Stop in Franklin Springs

Gov Kemp spoke to supporters at the Franklin Springs Fire Station Thursday

Governor Brian Kemp made a brief campaign stop in Franklin Springs Thursday morning.

Kemp met with grassroots supporters, along with local and state leaders at the Franklin Springs Fire Station.

Kemp is running for re-election as Governor against Atlanta businesswoman and Democrat Stacy Abrams.

In his 18-minute speech to supporters, Kemp said he is fighting for the Soul of the State.

“The reason we’re in a fight for the soul of our state is we have people from California, New York, Washington DC, Delaware and all over the country flooding her with financial resources. She raised almost $ 50 million dollars before the July 4 weekend. But you know what she’s going to need it because we’re going to remind people that Georgians don’t want people from New York or California telling us who our governor should be.”

Kemp said 85% of Abrams’ fundraising money comes from out of state and she owes them.

“She would embrace the same policies as New York and California because she owes them. She owes the National Teachers Union They don’t care about Georgia. They care about their own national agenda. And Stacy Abrams took credit for getting Joe Biden elected. She campaigned to be his Vice-President. So, she has to own these policies that have completely turned our country on a dime; from the border, tax policies, more regulations, 40-year high inflation, and a disaster every time you fill your car up,” he said.

The Governor pointed to the State’s economic vitality because of his decision to re-open the state and the schools in June 2020 while most other states remained closed due to the pandemic.

Kemp also addressed Abrams’ stance on law enforcement telling a CNN reporter she would defund the police if elected.  He said under his administration that will never happen.

“I think Georgians want a Governor who’s going to do what he says he’s going to do.  Because she opposes re-opening. She opposes sending kids back to school. She’s said multiple times she loves the bright idea the Democrats had about a year and a half ago to defund the police. As long I’m Governor, we’re not defunding the police,” Kemp said.

Abrams denies Kemp’s claims of wanting to defund the police and said the CNN interview clip he’s used in his TV campaign ads was doctored.

From Franklin Springs, Kemp moved on to Toccoa where he held a similar campaign stop at Currahee Station.
