Karen Carriea Named New Assistant School Superintendent for Franklin Co

Carnesville Elementary School Principal Karen Correia has been promoted to Deputy Assistant School Superintendent.

Acting School Superintendent Chuck Colquitt made the announcement at last week’s Board of Education meeting.

She replaces Melanie Burton-Brown who was recently named the new School Superintendent for the Franklin County Charter System.

Correia has been with the Franklin County School system for almost 30 years, primarily at Carnesville Elementary School starting out there as a 4th-grade teacher.

In addition to teacher, she has also served as an academic coach and assistant principal before being named the current principal.

Correia will assume her new duties at the start of the new school year.
