Jury Selection Date Set in Murder Trial of Royston Man

Jury selection is expected to begin May 12 in the murder trial of a Royston man accused of killing his roommate.

It happened in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

At the time, Royston Police Chief Donnie Boleman said two male roommates got into an argument in their Spring St. townhome.

He said officers were dispatched to the Spring St. townhomes in reference to shots fired.

When they arrived the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Makuia Dondre Williams, flagged them down.

When they went inside, officers rendered aid but the victim, identified as 60-year-old Eugene Riley, but died at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist with the scene and the investigation.

Williams was arrested and charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a forcible felony, and cruelty to a child in the 3rd degree.

A Franklin County Grand Jury indicted Williams on those charges later in September, 2021
