Jordan Considering Options After Leaving Office as Royston’s Mayor

Royston Mayor David Jordan has decided not to run for re-election but he says he looking at his political options going forward.

“I’m just looking at some possibilities. I’ve been asked to look at possibilities,” he said. “People don’t realize I’ve been mayor for 12 years and before that I was on the council for two terms. If I’m going to do anything for myself, it’s time to transition.”

In an interview with WLHR News Thursday, Jordan said he’s received a lot of phone calls asking him why he’s resigning.

“I’ve had a lot of people calling upset, asking why I’m resigning. I’m not resigning, I just didn’t qualify so I don’t have to resign mid-term,” he explained.

Jordan said the City of Royston has come a long way in those 12 years he has served as Mayor and he believes he’s leaving the City in good hands.

“All of our projects we set out to do we’ve done. And we’re still working on projects. We’ve had great successes in Royston. We have a great team. It’s time for me to turn over the reins to Keith (Turman). He’s done a great job as mayor pro-tem. I fully support Keith Turman in this effort. I’m not going anywhere. I’m just changing gears,” he said.

Jordan said he is closely watching the redistricting process in Georgia but
would not say exactly where his political ambitions lie and would not say which political office he has his eye on.

Jordan is a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.

He is an attorney and holds a Master of Business Administration.

In addition to his mayoral duties, Jordan is the Department Chair and Professor of Business and Computer Information Systems at Emmanuel College.
